Police name 'murdered' motorist

Police have named a motorist allegedly murdered by a lorry driver.

Trevor Allen, 56, from Manchester, was discovered lying in the carriageway in Manchester Road, Rixton, near Warrington, on Saturday morning.

He was found near his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, his family said: "Trevor was an amazing, caring dad, granddad, brother, uncle, son and friend to many.

"His smile and charm made the room light up when he walked in. Loved by all who knew him, he is irreplaceable and will be very sadly missed."

Mark Slater, 46, of Hillside Avenue, Oldham, was arrested at the scene and was today charged with Mr Allen's murder. He is due to appear at Runcorn Magistrates' Court later.
