Prisoner held over jail murder of sex offender
A 25-year-old prisoner has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a fellow inmate, police have said.
Robert Coello (44), who was serving a sentence for sexually assaulting a minor, was found with head injuries in his cell in G wing of HMP Grendon in Buckinghamshire at around 3.30pm on Sunday.
It was reported that he had been stamped to death.
He was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital but pronounced dead at 11.05pm, Thames Valley Police said.
The force said the 25-year-old inmate was arrested at 8.20pm on Sunday and was bailed and returned to prison.
A post-mortem examination by a Home Office pathologist was due to take place at the hospital on Monday.
HMP Grendon can house up to 235 inmates in Category B secure conditions.
Coello was jailed at Reading Crown Court in August 2006 after admitting four counts of rape and 12 other sexual assaults.
