Sam Smith forced out of Vevo show

Sam Smith has been forced to cancel a performance because he has lost his voice.

The soul star announced he was pulling out of a scheduled appearance at the Vevo Halloween party at the Victoria Warehouse in Manchester tonight.

In a message posted on Twitter and Facebook this afternoon, he said: "I'm so sorry to announce I won't be singing at the Vevo Halloween show tonight.

"I've totally lost my voice and the doctors have advised against it. I'm so sorry but hope you all have a great time."

Vevo also confirmed the news.

It said on Twitter: " We're gutted to announce that Sam Smith will not be performing as he lost his voice.

"The doctor said he cannot sing. We hope Sam gets well soon. "

The chart-topping singer has enjoyed a glittering year, with prizes at the Brit Awards and more recently the Mobos.
