Shot man dropped off at hospital

A man has suffered serious injuries after being shot in the leg.

Police said the victim, 30, was dropped off at North Manchester General Hospital shortly after 7.30pm last night by someone in a dark coloured Citroen car, which then drove off.

Greater Manchester Police's major incident team have launched an investigation to find out who took the man to hospital and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The man remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Detective superintendent Serena Kennedy said: "O ur focus is on finding those who dropped him off at the hospital and identifying where this occurred.

"If anyone has any information in relation to this or the incident as a whole I would encourage them to contact us in complete confidence.

"As soon as we are confident that we have established the location to the shooting we will have an increased presence in that area should the community wish to talk to us about this issue or any concerns they may have."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
