The Manchester United team bus was pelted with missiles as it entered West Ham's Upton Park ground in London for the last match to be played there.

Video footage showed pieces falling off the coach as objects were thrown and a crowd stood filming on their phones.

The Boleyn Ground has been home to West Ham United for 112 years. Kick-off was delayed until 8.30pm due to the trouble.

The United players seemed to take the incident in their stride. A video posted online, appearing to be footage from inside the bus, showed a number of players filming the scene and others lying in the aisle as objects are thrown at the coach. United captain Wayne Rooney said: "It wasn't nice. The coach got smashed up, but we are here now."

A police officer and a member of the public suffered minor injuries but there were no arrests.

In what turned out to be a nail-biter, West Ham won 3-2.
