Stephen Hawking too ill for party
Professor Stephen Hawking was forced to miss a second birthday party last night because of ill-health.
The renowned cosmologist was due to attend a VIP reception at the Science Museum in London in honour of his birthday and work.
Prof Hawking, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease at the age of 21, turned 70 on January 8.
He was unable to attend a birthday symposium in Cambridge on that day because of health problems.
A new exhibition at the Science Museum entitled Stephen Hawking: A 70th birthday Celebration, opens to the public today.
The professor's daughter, Lucy, represented her father at last night's event.
