Teenager held over pensioner rape

A teenager has been arrested after an elderly woman was raped in her home.

The pensioner called police shortly after 2am to report that a man had broken into her flat in Felixstowe, Suffolk, and sexually assaulted her.

She suffered a number of injuries and was taken by paramedics to Ipswich Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition, Suffolk Police said.

The force has not released the age of the woman.

A 17-year-old boy from Ipswich has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is currently being questioned by detectives.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Suffolk Police.
