Teenager injured in road collision

A 13-year-old boy is critically injured following a road collision, police have said.

The teenager was crossing the road in Salford, Greater Manchester, when the incident involving a Ford Ka vehicle happened at about 8.40pm yesterday.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "The boy suffered serious head and chest injuries, and was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

"The driver of the Ford Ka stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries."

Anyone who witnessed the collision in Fitzwarren Street at its junction with Lower Seedley Road should contact police on 0161 856 4742.
