Terror charge teenager remanded

A man was remanded in custody today charged with terror offences after he was arrested at Luton Airport having landed on a flight from Istanbul.

Yahya Rashid, 19, of Willesden, north west London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

He will appear next at the Old Bailey on April 24.

Rashid, dressed in a grey t-shirt and trousers, spoke only to confirm his name and give his date of birth.

He is charged with engaging in conduct in preparation for committing an act of terrorism, and engaging in conduct with the intention of assisting others to commit acts of terrorism, between November 1 2014 and March 31 2015.

He was arrested by off icers from the Metropolitan Police Service counter terrorism command at the airport yesterday.

An application for bail was refused.
