A two-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car, police said.

The toddler was taken to hospital following the crash outside Nottingham's Capital FM Arena.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said the force was alerted to the incident in Bolero Square at 8.10am yesterday.

The girl was taken to the city's Queen's Medical Centre, where she died.

Anyone who saw the collision is asked to contact police on 101 with reference number 87 of July 11.
