Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a baby died from serious injures in Gloucester, England.

A three-month-old boy was admitted to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on Saturday morning and transferred to Bristol Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

He later died from his injuries.

Gloucestershire police said a 20-year-old woman and 26-year-old man were arrested in connection with the incident.

Before the baby's death, a police spokesman said: "Police were called to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital at 11am on July 30 after concerns were raised for a baby's welfare.

"A baby boy, aged three months old, was brought to the hospital with serious injuries.

"We wish to reassure the local community that this is thought to be an isolated and contained incident, with no wider risk to the public."
