Two men are killed after blast at Norwich factory

Two men have died following an explosion on an industrial estate.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to digger bucket manufacturer Harford Attachments in Norwich at 9.20am yesterday.

A Norfolk Police spokesman the two victims, one aged in his 50s and one in his 20s, are both thought to have worked at the premises. No one else needed medical attention.

A helicopter from the East Anglian Air Ambulance was also deployed, although the crew did not include the Duke of Cambridge, who began work with the charity yesterday.

Scott Norman, from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, said: "When we arrived smoke was billowing from a large building, our crew entered the property and located the room which the fire was in. We extinguished the fire but unfortunately two people died at the scene."

A joint police and fire investigation will now be carried out.
