William and Kate have a ball as they revel in first family holiday
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have enjoyed a secret getaway for their first holiday as a family of four.
William and Kate found themselves battling in the snowy setting of the French Alps when they took their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte on a short skiing break.
The Cambridges have released a series of six photographs to mark the event.
But instead of telling the media about the trip in advance - photographers were once a big part of royal ski holidays - they took a single lensman with them.
They arrived on Wednesday night and the following day, when the pictures were taken, George had his first experience of playing in the snow.
The family is home now, but aides have still not revealed where they went - although it's believed to be the Alpine village of Courchevel.
A Kensington Palace spokesman said: "This was their first holiday as a family of four and the first time either of the children had played in the snow.
"It was very special and fun short holiday for the family."
