Wimbledon: Murray second favourite

Andy Murray is joint second favourite to win Wimbledon with just over a week before the famous tennis tournament swings into action, according to William Hill.

Novak Djokovic is the 7/4 favourite to win at the All England Club, with Murray the 7/2 joint second favourite along with French Open champion and world number one Rafael Nadal.

Seven-time Wimbledon winner Roger Federer is close behind on 5/1, with many seeing this as his final chance of winning a Grand Slam, the bookmaker said.

Hot favourite Djokovic has actually lost five of his last six slam finals, including last year's defeat by Murray at Wimbledon.

Having ended the wait for a British male singles champion in SW19 after 77 years, the Scot will try to emulate Fred Perry once more by retaining the title.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "Djokovic is the hot favourite to win but our customers seem to be betting with their hearts not their heads as Murray and Federer are by far the best backed competitors."

World number one Serena Williams is 5/4 favourite to take the women's title while French Open winner Maria Sharapova is on odds of 5/1 to lift the trophy.

Caroline Wozniacki, who recently split from golfer fiancee Rory McIlroy, is on odds of 100/1.

The bookmaker is offering odds of 116/1 on a "super summer" with Murray to win Wimbledon and England to win the World Cup.
