Woman charged over house fire death

A 29-year-old woman has been charged with murder after a man died in a house fire, police said.

Patricia Louise Hindle, of Crombey Street, Swindon, will appear before magistrates in the town today accused of killing 62-year-old Michael Redpath.

Mr Redpath died in hospital following the blaze at a mid-terrace property in Albion Street, Swindon, on Wednesday night.

He had been rescued from the first floor of the property by firefighters but succumbed to his injuries.

Police said Mr Redpath, who was well known in the Swindon area, had died as a result of inhalation of smoke and burns.
