Woman charged over pensioner death
A woman has been charged with murdering a pensioner who was found fatally injured at his home by his son, police said.
Melanie Cole, 49, will appear before Thames Magistrates' Court in London charged with murdering retired builder William Reilly, 91.
Mr Reilly's son discovered him at his home in Tottenham, north London, late last month.
The pensioner was taken to the Royal London Hospital after he was found at his home in Tower Gardens Road on the evening of December 29.
He died eight days later, on January 6, as a result of his injuries.
A post-mortem examination at Haringey Mortuary gave the cause of death as trauma to the head and pneumonia.
