Woman dies after shop stabbing

A woman has died after being stabbed in a shop.

Officers were called to reports of a man attacking the woman at a shop in Southgate Street, Gloucester, at about 5.50pm, a police spokesman said.

The ambulance service attended the incident and took the 20-year-old victim to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

However, efforts to save her were not successful.

The spokesman said next of kin and the coroner had been informed.

A murder investigation is now under way.
