Woman held after boy's death

A woman is being held by police investigating the death of a five-year-old boy.

Police found the child at a house in Alva, Clackmannanshire, on Friday, after a call about his welfare.

The boy had a "significant injury" to his body and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

The woman, 32, was held in connection with the incident, and a report was being prepared for the procurator fiscal last night.

Police said they were not linking the incident to the discovery of a woman's body just hours earlier in nearby Falkirk.

Chief Superintendent Davie Flynn, local police commander for the Forth Valley, said: '' 'I would like to stress that in both cases individuals have been detained by police and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with them."
