Woman's terror as Belfast flight struck by lightning
A frightened passenger on a plane struck by lightning on the way into Belfast has told of her terror.
The traveller said on Twitter it was "scary" and added it was a "bit surreal but thankfully all fine".
She also praised the actions of the crew who she said were "excellent".
A Flybe spokeswoman said: "Flybe can confirm that the aircraft operating the above flight incurred a lightning strike en route from Birmingham to Belfast City airport this afternoon.
"The aircraft landed safely without further incident and all 47 passengers disembarked as normal. The incidence of lightning is a relatively common in-flight weather occurrence throughout the world."
Flybe said because of this, all aircraft have conductive airframes that can withstand the harshest weather conditions to ensure no technical equipment or apparatus, including fuel tanks, are at risk from lightning."
