11 members of one Afghan family killed as van hits roadside bomb
Eleven people have been killed in a roadside bombing in the northern Afghan province of Baghlan.
Jaweed Basharat, spokesman for the provincial police chief, said the explosion took place in the Baghlan Jadid district on Thursday evening, when a van with the civilians inside hit the device.
Mr Basharat said five children and two women were among those killed in the blast, and three other people were injured.
All the victims were from one family. They were travelling home to their village of Qaisar Khil when their van struck the bomb.
The police chief blamed the Taliban for the attack, but no group has yet said it was behind it.
