£125k for Zimmerman murder defence
A website set up to raise money for the legal defence of the neighbourhood watch volunteer who killed an unarmed black teenager has raised more than 200,000 dollars (£125,000), his lawyer said.
Mark O'Mara told CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 TV news show that he would inform a judge at a hearing later.
George Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder over the February 26 shooting of Trayvon Martin, 17, in Sanford, Florida, was released from jail this week after paying 10% of 150,000 dollars' (£93,700) bail.
Mr O'Mara said the bail amount may have been higher if the judge knew Zimmerman, 28, had raised 200,000 dollars.
The website used to raise the money has since been shut down, but Mr O'Mara said he would probably start a new defence fund for Zimmerman.
