15 arrested over human trafficking
Bosnian police said they have arrested seven people and their colleagues in France a further eight in a co-ordinated operation against human traffickers who forced young women and children from Bosnia to steal for them in France.
A police statement said today that for years the suspects forced their victims to go pickpocketing for them in France while mistreating them physically and psychologically.
Police estimate the suspects made over 2 million euro (£1.4 million), which they spent on real estate purchases and luxury cars.
During the arrests in several Bosnian cities, police found a group of potential teenage victims in one of the raided premises.
The arrested group is suspected of laundering money, forging documents, human trafficking and misuse of drugs.
A Bosnian-French police team worked on the case for months.
