A suicide bombing has killed at least 20 people at a market in Maiduguri, Nigeria.

The town, in the north-east of the country, had already been attacked in the early hours of this morning by the extremist Boko Haram movement.

Hours later, a man blew himself up at Gamboru cattle market, according to witnesses. One said he counted at least 20 bodies.

It came after more than 30 people died in attacks over the weekend.

President Muhammadu Buhari announced last Friday that he was moving the military headquarters of the war from Abuja, the capital in central Nigeria, to Maiduguri.

The biggest city in north-east Nigeria is also the birthplace of Boko Haram.
