22 dead in oil pipe blast

Leaked oil from a ruptured oil pipe caught fire and exploded today in an eastern Chinese port, killing at least 22 and injuring others.

A district government in the port of Qingdao said the oil pipeline owned by China's largest oil refiner Sinopec ruptured and, while being repaired, caught fire and exploded.

The official Xinhua News Agency said 22 people were killed.

Authorities have ruled out the possibility of terrorism, but the incident remains under investigation.
