Around 30 people are feared dead in north-east India after a footbridge spanning a river collapsed, police said.
A police spokesman said people were crossing the bridge over the Kameng River in Arunachal Pradesh state when it collapsed.
Many of those crossing the bridge were said to be women and children.
At least 28 villagers were rescued from the river by police and paramilitary forces, although a swift current is said to be hindering rescue efforts.
The region is nearly 370 miles north of Gauhati, the capital of Assam state.
