Airline pilot locked out of cabin

An Air India captain was locked out of the cockpit mid-air

An airline captain was accidentally locked out of his cockpit after going to the toilet, forcing his co-pilot to make an emergency landing.

Air India said the cockpit door jammed during a flight over central India.

It said the captain could not return to the cockpit because the door was locked and that all efforts to open it, even from inside, failed on the trip from New Delhi to the Bangalore.

The co-pilot landed the plane at the nearest airport. The door was fixed by ground maintenance staff and the plane resumed its flight.

The airline said the incident posed no danger to the passengers.
