Albanian bank chief shot dead

The head and co-founder of one of Albania's biggest private banks has been shot dead in the capital Tirana.

Banka Credins CEO Artan Santo was gunned down as he entered his office, according to police spokeswoman Alma Katragjini.

Witnesses said two men on a motorbike first chatted with Mr Santo in front of the bank's entrance before shooting six times, once to his head.

Police said it is too early to determine a motive.

Mr Santo, 58, had been CEO and director-general of the 11-year-old Banka Credins. It is one of 16 banks in Albania.
