Army convoy 'reaches besieged city'
A convoy of armoured vehicles and buses packed with troops has been rolling into the besieged southern Syrian city of Daraa, an eyewitness has said.
The eyewitness said that the vehicles arrived earlier, suggesting that the Syrian army is reinforcing its forces in Daraa. The city is the epicentre of weeks-old protests demanding reform and regime change in the country, ruled by authoritarian President Bashar Assad.
The city has been tightly blockaded since Monday, when the army went in backed by snipers and tanks. Water, power and fuel have been cut off.
Security forces have killed hundreds of people since the protests began, many of them in Daraa.
