Three teenagers have been accused of digging up a corpse and using the skull
to smoke marijuana.
One of the men allegedly told police they dug up a grave, removed a head
from a body and smoked marijuana using the skull as a bong.
Police in Houston believe the teens disturbed the grave of an 11-year-old
boy who died in 1921.
Officers were interviewing one of the teens about a stolen debit card when
he allegedly blurted out the story.
Police found the cemetery and a grave that had been disturbed but are still
investigating the rest of the story, officials said.
"The grave was uncovered, and the headstone had been thrown off the
grave and broken," senior police officer Jim Adkins said.
Kevin Wade Jones, 17, and Matthew Richard Gonzalez, 17, both of Kingwood,
are being held on misdemeanor charges of abuse of a corpse. A third, who is
16, is in the juvenile justice system.
Houston police Sgt. John Chomiak said: "We can only speculate and guess
to what goes on in the criminal mind."
"They dug into this gravesite and that was enough to warrant the abuse
of corpse charge. There has to be further investigation into the actual
gravesite."
Police said a fourth suspect is wanted for questioning.
