Holland introduces workplace smoking ban
Tuesday, 1 July 2008
The Netherlands has become the latest European country to introduce a ban on smoking in public places.
The ban is not as strong as the one introduced in Ireland four years ago as bars will be allowed to operate segregated smoking areas where staff are not required to enter.
Smoking marijuana will still be allowed in Holland's famous coffee-shops, but smokers on the premises will not be allowed to mix it with tobacco.
Coffee-shop owners say this will force users to smoke pure cannabis instead.
