Eight Afghan policemen shot dead at checkpoint

Suspected Taliban militants have killed eight Afghan police officers at a checkpoint in the south of the country.
The attack happened last night in Kandahar province, one of the strongholds of the Taliban insurgency.
Local police say the attackers threw a grenade at the checkpoint before opening fire with automatic weapons.
