Baby saved in church shooting dies
A baby cut from his mother after she was shot dead in a church in Spain has died, hospital officials have said.
La Paz Hospital in Madrid said the infant boy died on Monday afternoon. It would not disclose the cause of death, citing the family's wishes.
His mother, Rocio Pineiro, who was due to give birth within days, was shot in the head as she sat in a pew in a Madrid church with her mother on Thursday.
The gunman then shot and wounded another woman sitting nearby, before walking up to the altar and killing himself.
Police said they have no evidence that the attacker knew his victims.
After the baby was delivered by paramedics, doctors warned that he might have suffered brain damage due to oxygen deprivation.
