Barbie the doll evolves: Tall, Curvy and Petite body shapes to hit shelves
There's a new Barbie in town - and she has three new body shapes.
For 57 years the popular doll has came in one shape and size - but now for the first time toymaker Mattel has created an alternative.
Barbie is now making curvy, tall and petite dolls.
The 33 new dolls in the Fashionistas range will keep the same name and will come in a variation of hair styles, skin tones and a choice of outfits.
It's the first time the traditional slim, busty shape of doll has changed since 1959.
Richard Dickson, president and chief operating officer of Mattel: "For more than 55 years, Barbie has been a global, cultural icon and a source of inspiration and imagination to millions of girls around the world.
"Barbie reflects the world girls see around them."
Pictures of the new dolls were tweeted by Mattel under their official Barbie account which said: "We proudly add three new body types to our line. Meet the new dolls. Barbie.com #TheDollEvolves."
The dolls will go on sale around the world from the spring.
