A motorist dressed as Batman had his Lamborghini pulled over by police because his car had invalid numberplates.

The man, identified as businessman Lenny B. Robinson, was dressed in a $5,000 replica costume when he was stopped in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Police decided not to fine Mr Robinson after learning that he was on his way to cheer up children on the cancer ward of a local hospital.

Mr Robinson was told to replace his car's Batman symbol license plates with real numberplates.
