Biden arrives in Iraq for talks
US vice president Joe Biden has arrived in Iraq for talks with the new government's leaders about the future of American troops in the country as they prepare to leave at the year's end.
Mr Biden was not expected to make any statements after his flight landed in Baghdad.
He will meet later with top Iraqi leaders who only last month picked a new Cabinet after inconclusive elections last March.
Iraqi leaders are weighing whether to ask US forces to stay in Iraq past a December 31 deadline set in 2008 by Washington and Baghdad.
Iraq has said it is not ready to defend its borders, but prime minister Nouri Maliki has signalled he wants American troops to leave on time.
