The body of an Iraq war veteran suspected of shooting an American park ranger is believed to have been found.
Benjamin Colton Barnes (24) apparently died after trudging into chest-deep snow in a Washington State park while trying to elude Swat team members and other police on his trail.
Barnes reportedly fled to the remote Mount Rainier National Park after a shooting that wounded four people in Seattle.
Washington State Patrol spokesman Guy Gill said a body believed to be Barnes was found face-down in the snow.
Visitors were evacuated from the park after ranger Margaret Anderson died on Sunday. The park remained closed yesterday as more than 100 police officers launched a hunt for Barnes.
A parks spokesman said the mother of his child had alleged he suffered from post-traumatic stress after his deployments.
Barnes was involved in a custody dispute in July 2011, during which the toddler's mother sought a temporary restraining order against him. In an affidavit, the woman wrote that Barnes was suicidal and possibly suffered from post traumatic stress after serving in Iraq.
