Bomb hits UN convoy in Somalia

A suicide bomber has rammed his vehicle into a UN convoy near Mogadishu's airport, killing three people, according to Somali police.

The attack also wounded seven people, a police spokesman said. He did not say if those killed and wounded were part of the UN convoy or were passers-by.

Yusuf Haji, a resident in the area, said soldiers fired at pedestrians after the blast.

The militant group al-Shabab frequently carries out suicide blasts and gun attacks in the Somali capital.

The group has also claimed two deadly attacks against Kenyan civilians near the Kenya-Somali border over the last two weeks.
