Briton jailed over smuggling drugs
A British man has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for smuggling 3.1 kilogrammes (6.8lbs) of methamphetamine crystals into the tourist island of Bali.
Khuram Antonio Khan Garcia was arrested in November on arrival at Bali's airport on board a Qatar Airways flight from Doha.
The Denpasar District Court on Thursday also ordered the 39-year-old Garcia to pay a 116,500 dollar (£72,000) fine or to serve one more year in prison.
Garcia admitted he was paid to carry the drug and said a man in Cameroon threatened to kill him if he refused.
Indonesia has strict drug laws and convicted smugglers are often executed. More than 140 people are on death row, including more than 50 foreigners.
