Budget retailer Primark opens first US store in Boston
Rapidly expanding Irish fashion brand Primark has opened its first US store.
The budget retailer is based at the former Filene's Basement store in Boston's Downtown Crossing shopping district, where queues formed yesterday.
The Boston store underlines just how much work the Dublin board of directors have put into their expansion plans to "take America". Their ambitious #primarkUSA plans envisages another seven stores opening in rapid succession.
The giant 77,000sq ft outlet at Downtown is generating "primania" on social media.
The biggest difference Irish customers would note are the roomy, individual dressing rooms, 84 in all, located across the stores and there are rest rooms too in the menu of customer services.
Paul Marchant, CEO of Primark, said: "We are confident our proposition will be liked by the American consumer. We think that our prices and our fashion will stand us in good stead."
