A wad of cash stuffed in a woman's bra saved her life during a shootout.
Ivonete Pereira de Oliveira, 58, was a passenger on the bus that two gunmen held up in Salvador, north east Brazil.
An armed off-duty policeman on the bus opened fire and in the ensuing gun battle, on Saturday, a bullet struck the left side of Ms Oliveira's chest.
The 150 reals (about £48) in banknotes that Ms Oliveira hid inside her bra slowed the bullet enough to prevent it entering her heart and killing her instantly.
Ms Oliveira underwent surgery to remove the bullet from her left breast and was released from hospital yesterday.
The off-duty police officer was killed.
