Bush tried to sabotage Iran's nuclear plans
Monday, 12 January 2009
President George Bush expanded covert action intended to sabotage Iran's suspected effort to develop nuclear weapons last year after sanctions failed to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions, The New York Times has reported.
The paper said the Bush administration briefed Israel on the covert programme after Washington turned down an Israeli request for a new generation of bunker-busting bombs required for a possible attack on Iran.
President Bush also rejected a request for Israeli planes to cross Iraqi air space in case of Israeli strikes on Iran. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported last September that the Israeli requests had been spurned.
"The Israelis backed off their plans, at least temporarily," the New York Times said. "But the tense exchanges prompted the White House to step up intelligence-sharing with Israel on new US efforts to subtly sabotage Iran's nuclear infrastructure, a major covert program that Mr Bush is about to hand off to President-elect Barack Obama."
The clandestine US programme, started in early 2008 according to the paper, includes fresh American efforts to penetrate Iran's nuclear supply chain abroad, "along with new efforts, some of them experimental, to undermine electrical systems, computer systems and other networks on which Iran relies."
It was authorised because sanctions failed to persuade Iran to halt uranium enrichment and is an attempt to delay Iran's ability to produce fuel and workable designs for a weapon, which according to independent experts is months away. The Washington Post said that, despite US attempts to halt illegal imports into Iran, including sanctions against several Dubai-based Iranian front companies in 2006, "the technology pipeline to Tehran is flowing at an even faster pace".
Mr Obama, who promised a "new approach" of engagement with Iran, will have to decide whether to continue the covert programme.

Firstly, if your born in New York, you're an American citizen. Enough of the Irish-American thing already, its a boat that sailed long ago.
" And if the U.S. goes soft, Europe goes down first........"
Funny that, because when you kicked your heels over getting involved in the two great wars of this world, the people of Europe were laying down millions of lives. Your eventual involvement was a financial one. FACT. The Federal Reserve, an illegal institution I might add, pressured the President into entering the war for monetary gain. Anyway, before I go off on one, what theory leads you to believe Europe will be troubled at all by what America does???? You still owe the Chinese billions, the Oil barons of the Middle East are considering trade in Euro, rather than the Dollar, which would collapse your economy as its all thats holding it up!!!! That is a typical American statement, jealous of the rest of the world as always.

With Obama, there are just more questions than answers. His first couple of days in office are remarkably similar to those of Gordon Brown - a strategy of immediacy and urgency.
I am timing how long before the next terrorist attack or major theatre war to undo everthing that was done - this always happens after a major public works programme finishes, so wait until these 1million peeps are fed and wattered with their new jobs they are being paid less for.
Btw - this 1million unemployed he is planning to place into the workers market!! Why was this not thought of before? Why are these same people being placed in jobs they do not want and more improtantly at lower rates whilst Russia (St. Petersburg to be specific) gets the Ford and Chrysler plants!
As for Iran - that would be cure for all the new administration's headaches - a war to clear the books of all the corruption that has been going on for the past 8 years!

Greetings from an Irish-American born in NY City! I pray the Europeans do not fall too deeply in love with our Pretender Obama. He is an advocate for economic socialism and will be run over roughshod by the Middle Eastern radicals. The big myth perpetuated by the liberal US media is that Obama won our election because of his foreign policy positions....but that is not true. He won because McCain could not articulate his own domestic economic policy. Obama simply promised throughout his campaign to give everything to everyone and meet every loathesome dictator promising a big hug. In two short months, the Messiah has backtracked on EVERYTHING! If he is smart, he will continue Bush's covert operation... and be ruthless with Islamic radicals. If the US goes soft, Europe goes down first....remember that!
