Charles and Camilla in Canada visit
The Duchess of Cornwall was left looking a little wind blown when she arrived in Canada with the Prince of Wales for a Diamond Jubilee tour.
A strong breeze played havoc with her hair as she stepped from a Canadian Forces Airbus jet to start a four-day trip in honour of the Queen, but by the time she reached the tarmac to join her husband who was greeting local dignitaries, her carefully coiffured hair was in place.
Charles and Camilla have travelled to the Commonwealth nation to celebrate the Queen's 60-year reign with its people.
The visit is their first tour in honour of the Queen and later in the year they will travel to Australia and New Zealand to mark her historic milestone.
In a newspaper article the prince described his emotional bond with the Commonwealth nation ahead of his 16th trip to the country, saying how each time he visited Canada a little more of it "seeps into my bloodstream - and from there straight to my heart".
Writing in Canada's Globe and Mail he highlighted how the tour would recognise the work of individuals and groups in their communities and abroad: "Service to others is the central theme of the Diamond Jubilee and it is this that guides the Queen and my family in all that we try to do.
"Service takes many forms. Our tour will rightly begin by recognising the vital contribution that her majesty's Canadian Armed Forces make in promoting international peace and stability..."
He added: "Many of the engagements during this tour are deliberately focused on highlighting individual cases of success which tell a wider story so that they might inspire others to become involved in similar ways.
"This can only strengthen social fabric and enhance Canada's enviable reputation as a country where people think beyond themselves to the needs of others to build a tolerant, open and outward-looking society."
Canada has received frequent visits from its Royal Family in recent years, the Duke and Duchess made their first trip as a married couple to the country last summer, the Queen toured the nation in 2010 and Charles and Camilla were guests in 2009.
