Chinese knife attack 'kills seven'

China has suffered another multiple stabbing attack, with seven people reported killed in a village in a central province.

The China News Service agency said the attack occurred in the county of Lushan in Henan province, and added that the attacker was captured.

The report said the attack was prompted by disputes with neighbours but gave no further details.

China's countryside is rife with disputes over land, business dealings and other issues. Attacks involving knives, rat poison and other weapons are reported regularly.

The government of the city of Macheng in the central province of Hubei said yesterday that a man attacked first and second-graders at a school, injuring eight children.
