Cocaine seized off Costa Rica coast
More than four tonnes of cocaine has been seized by Costa Rican officials from three boats disguised as fishing vessels off the Central American country's Pacific Coast.
Eleven Costa Ricans were arrested in the seizure of the boats, situated hundreds of miles from each other and far off the coast late on Tuesday and early on Wednesday.
Officials have not said if the three boats are believed to have been working together.
At least one was seized in a joint operation between Costa Rica and the US Coast Guard, which patrols much of the country's coast in an effort to halt drug smuggling.
Costa Rican waters have been increasingly used for drug smuggling in recent years.
Officials in the country say they have seized more than seven tonnes of cocaine since the start of May.
