Cruise and tabloids settle lawsuit

Tom Cruise has settled with a publisher over stories that implied he had abandoned his daughter Suri after his divorce from Katie Holmes.

Tom Cruise has settled with the publisher of two tabloid magazines over stories suggesting he abandoned his daughter after his divorce from actress Katie Holmes.

In a statement amid news that Cruise and the magazines had reached a confidential settlement in a defamation case filed by the Mission: Impossible star, Bauer Publishing said it never intended to imply that he abandoned his daughter Suri,

Bauer operates Life & Style and In Touch magazines, which were sued by Cruise over two stories which h is lawyer Bert Fields called outrageous.

The magazines' statements expressed regret if anyone interpreted their stories as meaning Cruise had cut all contact to Suri.

Mr Fields said Cruise spoke to his daughter frequently while working on a pair of film shoots that kept him overseas.
