Donald Trump calls for Muslims to be banned from entering the US
Donald Trump has called for a "complete and total ban" on Muslims entering the United States.
The Republican presidential candidate said there should be a 'complete and total ban' on Muslims travelling to the US until officials understand where their "hatred" comes from.
Trump released a statement citing polling data he says shows "there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population."
"Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life," Trump said.
Trump has previously suggested the US closes mosques with radical ties and said Muslims should be forced to sign a register.
He said Muslims should be required to register at various sites including mosques and that it was all a question "of good management."
He told NBC: "I would certainly implement that. Absolutely.
"There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases. We should have a lot of systems," he added."
Last month Trump came under fire after mocking reporter Serge Kovaleski's musculoskeletal disability.
