Driver jailed over ‘cheeseball snack attack’ murder
An Australian woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison for running over a 21-year-old man who threw cheeseball snacks at her car.
Justice Roderick Howie said in his sentencing yesterday that 38-year-old Sarah May Ward acted in an impulsive and aggressive manner in the 2008 attack.
Ward was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when Eli Westlake and a group of his friends threw food at her car. Prosecutors said Ward drove directly at Mr Westlake, running him over.
Ward said she hit the accelerator by mistake. She was found guilty of murder last month.
