Ex-policeman allowed to challenge dismissal

A police officer sacked after an intelligence dossier was compiled against him has High Court permission to challenge his dismissal.
Former PSNI probationer constable Aaron Moffatt claims he was the victim of malicious allegations and bias.
The 27-year-old, from the north-west and who served in Londonderry, was ordered to leave the force in September amid claims about his conduct.
But his lawyers are seeking to overturn the decision — upheld on appeal — on the basis that it was pre-determined.
In court a barrister for the PSNI did not contest challenges to the dismissal made on grounds of procedural fairness, irrationality and failure to provide reasons.
The case was listed for a full hearing in January.
