Ex-student 'kills college worker'

A 20-year-old former community college student killed a campus print shop director that he used to work under, North Carolina officials said.

Wayne County Sheriff Larry Pierce said authorities are pursuing the suspect, Kenneth Morgan Stancil, on an open count of murder.

They said Stancil walked into a Wayne Community College building with a rifle this morning and killed Ron Lane. Stancil had worked for Mr Lane in the print shop in a work-study programme at the college.

Stancil was a third-year student at the college but it was not immediately clear when he last attended. He was not currently a student.

Authorities do not believe he is still on campus. They say the scope of their manhunt is currently inside the state of North Carolina.
