Facebook finish for Tiger Woods and golden girl Lindsey Vonn
They were one of the biggest power couples on the world stage of sports - but Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn have ended their three-year relationship in a thoroughly modern fashion. With synchronised Facebook posts.
The golfer and the Olympic gold-medallist skier have "mutually decided" to stop dating and to end their relationship.
The break is just the latest in Tiger Woods' losing streak in romance - as well as golf.
Woods has not won on the course since August 2013 and will fall out of the top 120 in the next world rankings.
As recently as a month ago at the US Masters, Vonn was photographed on the Augusta National course with Woods and his children, saying she felt lucky to be part of the lives of his two children, and called the golfer and his kids "amazing".
However, in a weekend announcement on her Facebook page, she wrote: "After nearly three years together, Tiger and I have mutually decided to end our relationship. I will always cherish the memories that we've created together. Unfortunately, we both lead incredibly hectic lives that force us to spend a majority of our time apart.
"I will always admire and respect Tiger. He and his beautiful family will always hold a special place in my heart."
While according to a post on Woods' website, entitled "A Personal Message From Tiger", he and Vonn have called it quits, saying: "He and Lindsey Vonn have mutually decided to stop dating."
Three years ago, Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn announced their megawatt celebrity relationship, also in synchronized Facebook posts.
They came together not long after their respective marriages ended. Vonn was newly-divorced, while Woods's marriage to Elin Nordegren ended in 2009 in a spectacular sex scandal when a series of women alleged he had affairs with them.
